Stephen found this box in one of our warehouses, one we had not been in for about 10 years. At first they looked like lumps of grey coral or something like that. Then we found the certificates and they took a whole different turn. They are Silver Riders or Dutch crownsized silver coins from before 1735 that had been salvaged by a friend of mine, the late Rex Cowan. Rex was one of the most famous treasure divers of our time. He and his co-diver John Rose discovered this ship ‘t Vliegent Hart in 1981 and it took two years to bring up the treasure. On the 3rd of February 1735 at 5pm the ship hit the sandbank, The Bar of Deurloo, in Zeeland, the Netherlands and sank. Its treasure had lain undiscovered for some 246 years. If you could x-ray each clump of ocean rubble or ‘Bisquit’ as the divers called them, you would see a silver crown or Silver Rider. We bought them over 30 years ago and they have sat in our vault room since then. Most were singles but two examples had two coins in them. We off er you them just as they were found original and untouched. Each piece comes with a certifi cate of authenticity. We think you will like our prices, but supplies are very limited. They make excellent show pieces as you know which ship had them, where it sunk and when and it comes with certificate of authenticity.
