2022 Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Gold Sovereign

Celebrate a monumental moment in royal history with the 2022 Platinum Jubilee Gold Sovereign. Struck to The Royal Mint's exacting standards in traditional 22-carat solid gold, this highly significant coin celebrates Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s extraordinary 70 years on the throne—the first British monarch to ever reach such a milestone. What makes this issue truly spectacular is its rare departure from tradition. Expertly designed by heraldic artist Timothy Noad, the reverse features a beautiful, one-year-only reinterpretation of the Royal Coat of Arms, replacing Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St. George and the Dragon. Charles I Silver Shilling (Ex. Messing Hoard, 1634–1635)

Unearth the hidden history of the English Civil War with this exceptional Charles I silver shilling. In August 1975, a gardener in the Essex village of Messing struck a bowl-shaped earthenware pot with a mechanical digger, revealing a phenomenal hoard of 2,222 silver coins. Likely buried at the outbreak of the Civil War in 1642, the hoard's total value was around £132—a massive sum equating to about four years' wages for a labourer at the time. Declared Treasure Trove, many of these coins have barely seen the light of day over the last 50 years. We are delighted to offer a limited selection of these historic shillings, bearing the Bell mintmark (1634–1635) and featuring the larger Group D, Type 3a bust of the King. Available in a pleasing Good Fine condition, this is a rare opportunity to own a genuine, pedigree-backed piece of Civil War treasure while stocks last. 

Lower Danubian Celtic Bronze Tetradrachm (2nd–1st Century BC)

Step back into the ancient world with this captivating piece of abstract Celtic art. When the Celtic peoples of Eastern Europe fought as mercenaries in Ancient Greek wars, they were paid in the beautiful silver staters of Philip II of Macedon. Upon returning home, they began minting their own versions of this wealth. Over time, as silver supplies dwindled, the metal shifted to bronze and the artwork evolved into wonderfully stylized, highly abstract interpretations of the original Greek designs. Dating to the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, these coins—still traditionally referred to as Tetradrachms—feature a highly abstract Zeus on the obverse and a geometric horse and rider on the reverse. Graded About Fine, these coins offer an incredibly affordable and fascinating intersection of Greek influence and Celtic culture.
