George IV, Crown Very Good

During the short reign of King George IV this Sterling Silver Crown or Five Shilling piece was only struck for two years 1821 and 1822. You have the portrait of King George IV on the obverse with St. George and the dragon on the reverse. There was another design crown issued in 1826 but that is very rare. This is a rather handsome and we believe underappreciated coin and one that over the past few years has been harder and harder to get. In fact the few coins that we can offer you have taken us two years to put together. The coins on offer are in Very Good condition. They are struck in Sterling Silver and were only struck for two years.

Picture of Edward VII, Third Farthing 1902 Brilliant Unc

Edward VII, Third Farthing 1902 Brilliant Unc

To us, one of the most interesting and difficult coins of King Edward VII has always been the Third Farthing. It is the smallest coin issued by Edward VII and it was made for only one year 1902. A Farthing was 960 to the pound and these are each one third of that Farthing. Although legal tender and used in this country, they were mainly made for use in Malta and Ceylon. The mintage is just 288,000 and they are now 116 years old. This group came in from a dealer who bought them from someone who put them away in 1902. The coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and remember they are a one year type coin and very low mintage.
