Commemorative

A coin struck to honour or commemorate an event or person. In the past many commemoratives were issued at or near their face value. Today they are usually issued for collectors and to produce revenue for the issuing country or marketer. Many of the commemoratives issued today are not issued for general circulation and thus are NCLT (Non Circulating Legal Tender).
