Elizabeth II, 1980 Royal Mint Proof Set

In 1980 the Royal Mint issued its first Proof Set for some time with frosted coins. What we mean by frosted is, the field is Brilliant Proof and the bust, devices, and lettering are Matt Proof. This is almost like a Wedgwood effect. The public loved it with the new frosting. It is hard to believe but that was over 40 years ago 1980! You get the 50p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p, and 1/2p all in Frosted Proof, all in the original case of an issue with the original Royal Mint packaging. Of course, over the past 40 years, the coins will have toned a little, but we always send you the best set that we have in stock when your order arrives.

Elizabeth II, 1990 Royal Mint Proof Set

In 1990 the Royal Mint reduced the size of the Five Pence piece, to the size we use today. The 1990 Proof Set is rather Special, as it contains both sizes of the Five Pence, both large and small. The large-sized Five Pence was not struck for circulation. In fact, this Proof Set contains three coins that were not issued for circulation, the large-sized 5p, the 10p, and the 50p. So this is a very important set and one that many collectors are missing. You get the £1, 50p (not issued for circulation), 20p, 10p (not issued for circulation), Large sized 5p (not issued for circulation), small-sized 5p, 2p and 1p. Offered here is the 1990 Proof Set in the normal blue case.

Persia, Silver 1/8 Qirans (Krans), AH1271-Ah1342 (1854-1924)_obv

Persia, Silver 1/8 Qirans (Krans), AH1271-Ah1342 (1854-1924) - New Year Gift!

We bought part of a hoard of choice Persian Silver coins, they are 1/8 Qirans but better known as ‘Shahi-e-safid’ or ‘White Sahi’ to distinguish them from the copper Sahis. They were struck not for circulation but to be given as gifts as an expression of friendship and good luck for the ‘Now Ruz’ New Year celebrations. They are beautiful little silver coins and in choice condition, struck between 1854-1924 when they stopped minting them so they are also about 100 years old or more but in almost perfect condition. Why not buy a few of these unusual coins to give out to friends at New Year's for something a bit different? They are priced at a level that we think you will appreciate and won’t hurt too much to be given away as gifts!
