The iconic White £5 was first introduced in 1793.It continued with various tweaks until 1956 when it was retired in favour of the Britannia Blue £5 which itself became iconic in the Bank of England series. Far too big to fit into a regular wallet, the White £5 notes were huge, measuring 210mm x 132 mm. They were printed on one side only, on watermarked paper and towards the end of their issue had a security thread embedded in the note to thwart counterfeiters. It is these Threaded White £5 notes which we are able to offer now in Choice AU/Unc.
