On the 6th of June 1944 British soldiers from D-Company 2nd Air Bourne Battalion parachuted on to Benouville Bridge. Their job was to hold the bridge and thus delay the Germans. Their success played an important part in ending the war. Later they re-named the bridge Pegasus Bridge in their honour. The is gold, red, white and blue and comes in a protective capsule. A handsome piece and one that has great history.
