This beautiful silver rupee was most likely ordered to be struck by Fatteh Singh in 1928 but they were not issued until after his death in 1931-32. He ruled the Mewar region for 46 years from 1884 until his death in 1930. The coins were machine made and struck in Calcutta and are actually dated 1928 (VS 1985). They are known as ‘Friendship With London Rupees’ because of the Nagari legend on the reverse which reads Dosthi Landhan (Friends with London) 1985 (1928). The obverse shows a very detailed depiction of the fort at Chittogarth within a decorative border. Beautiful coins struck in silver and now nearly 100 years old and in Uncirculated Condition.
