James I of England (1567–1625), also known as James VI of Scotland, was the first monarch to rule both England and Scotland, uniting the crowns in 1603 after Elizabeth I’s death. Born to Mary, Queen of Scots, he became King of Scotland as an infant in 1567. His reign in England was marked by efforts to strengthen royal authority and religious conflicts between Catholics and Protestants. Here we have silver Shillings of James I to offer, there are six bust varieties and a range of mintmarks to collect. They depict the King on the obverse, facing right with a XII behind which represents the 12 pennies in a shilling. The reverse depicts the Royal Coat of Arms in a shield surrounded by latin legends. The coins on offer are all well-circulated or Very Good condition. PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COIN SUPPLIED
