During the Second World War, the Bank of England suspended all denominations over £5. It wasn’t until 1964 that a £10 denomination was reintroduced. It formed part of the Portrait Series with a portrait of Elizabeth II on the front and a lion trailing a ribbon on the back The first £10 notes to appear were signed by J Q Hollom (B299).
