We’ve always like the so called Shakespeare £20. It was first issued in 1970 and after quite a few modifications was replaced in 1991 with the Faraday £20. It was designed by Harry Eccleston. A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in State Robes is on the front alongside a vignette of St George slaying the dragon. On the back, is an illustration of the Kent Memorial statue of playwright William Shakespeare and a vignette of the balcony scene from his play Romeo and Juliet.
