On offer this issue are examples of the £5, £10 and £20 (P56-57) A mature facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is to the right on the fronts alongside a vignette of important buildings to be found on the island- The Town Church in St Peter Port, Elizabeth College and St James Concert Hall .Incredibly, the first time Her Majesty’s portrait appeared on Guernsey notes was only in 1996 On the backs, more important buildings are featured- the Hanois Lighthouse and Fort Grey, St Sampson’s Church, Les Niaux Watermill and Le Trepied Dolmen. All in all, a wonderful selection to add to your collection of Guernsey or even to start one!

This new catalogue of Guernsey Paper Money has been a long time coming but the wait was certainly worth it because the authors have produced an amazing work, which will enthral anyone who has a smidgen of interest in the series! It is over 480 pages long and stuffed with profuse illustrations in colour .It covers the very early 19th century issues up until the present day and everything in between. It includes mintage figures and valuations. You will also find reference to specimens, essais , cheques, financial ephemera and errors. What I particularly like is how the authors weave the story of note issues with the history of the island and include sections on issues for Alderney, Sark, Herm Island and the period of the German Occupation during the World War 2. A superb companion for anyone interested in the note issue of Guernsey and hats off to the authors for such a comprehensive piece of work! Only 300 copies have been printed - so get yours today!
