In 2002, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 50th or Golden Jubilee as our Queen. The Royal Mint issued a special commemorative £5 to honour the event. In many ways it is similar to the Coronation Crown of 1953, as the Queen is riding her horse. The obverse is the Queen with her crown and a most striking portrait it is. They are in Uncirculated condition and now, 20 years later, following the passing of our longest reigning monarch, they are one of the most sought after coins of her reign.
In 2002 the Royal Mint issued a crownsized £5.00 to honour the 50th anniversary of Elizabeth becoming Queen Elizabeth II. On one side you have the Queen on horseback and on the other you have a rather stunning portrait of the Queen in a very pensive pose. We have a small number of this handsome Silver Proof £5 complete in capsule. They are beautiful and do justice to our Monarch who has dedicated so much of her life to her country and her people. Don’t miss out, this is a handsome coin.
This is one of Mercury huge Crown Covers issued in 2002 for Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee. This one contains two $2 stamps from Grenada. The Sierra Leone Dollar depicts a youthful Queen with a also young Prince Charles and Princess Anne. This crown must be quite scarce as I have never seen it offered before. It is Brilliant Uncirculated and in this large size First Day Cover it looks just great.
In 2002 H. M. Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Golden Jubilee as our Queen, 1952-2002. To honour this event some of the Commonwealth nations issued either crowns or stamps. This is a wonderful Crown Cover from Gibraltar and the Bahamas combined in a First Day Cover (FDC). The Crown shows the Queen looking down at Prince Charles as an infant in his crib. It was issued in 1997 by Gibraltar for hers and Prince Philip’s Golden Wedding Anniversary. The two stamps were issued for the island nation of the Bahamas and cancelled on the First Day of Issue. The cover shows the Queen smiling as is usual and carrying a beautiful bunch of flowers. A most unusual crown and not one that we have seen before, so here is a chance to add to your collection.
