If you collect Brass Threepences, you know that the 1946 coin is one of two Key Dates. The reason is that this coin was struck after the end of World War II and these coins were shipped to British Colonies in the Caribbean with much lower mintages than in previous years. For example, the 1942 and 1943 mintages were both in excess of 100 million each, whereas the 1946 only had a mintage of 620,734. That is why they are so hard to find in any grade.
