George V Halfpenny 1936 Uncirculated

Halfpennies of George V are difficult to find in very high grades. Why? Well, more Pennies were struck in 1936 than the combined mintage of Halfpennies from 1928 through 1936. In the last issue, we offered high-grade Halfpennies from 1932 to 1934; this time we have a group of Uncirculated Halfpennies from 1936 – the year of the three Kings. Coins of Edward VIII were never officially released, and considering he was King from January until December of 1936, it’s fair to assume many of these were struck during his reign. Much scarcer than the Pennies and now very difficult to find in Uncirculated condition, these historic Halfpennies are almost 90 years old—and still reasonably priced to boot.
