The Cartwheel twopences of George III are always popular amongst collectors - they were after all the largest copper coins to ever circulate in Great Britain. Issued in the middle of the Industrial Age when there was a mass shortage of silver coins, Industry took it on themselves to strike their own Copper pennies, halfpennies and in some cases Shillings. Struck at the Soho Mint in Birmingham on the Matthew Boulton steam presses, these two ounce copper coins must have been a challenge to carry around. We have been putting higher grade examples away for some time and are delighted to offer you them for the first time in three years in EF grade.
