On 19th October 2019, detectorist Mickey Richardson unearthed a Civil War Hoard in a muddy field in the village of Ansty, near Dorchester in Dorset. The hoard contained 234 silver coins from the reigns of King Edward VI, Queen Elizabeth I, James I and Charles I. The coins were from the period 1551 to 1644, so it can be estimated that the hoard was buried, probably by a local landowner or farmer around 1644. Under the Treasure Act, the hoard was declared and recorded by The British Museum and returned to Mr Richardson and the landowner. Coincraft acquired a portion of this historic hoard, we guarantee the enclosed Sixpence is an authentic and genuine piece from the Ansty Hoard, Dorset, 2019, comes with Certificate of Authenticity.
