The Indo-Parthian kingdom founded by Gondophares ruled large areas of central Asia stretching from what is now eastern Iran to parts of north western India, and existed for the first 2 centuries AD. These small drachm coins date from the period between 30AD and 55AD and were minted in Jammu, in the now disputed Kashmir region of India. According to some sources, St James the Apostle, who according to Christian tradition brought Christianity to India, visited the court of Gondophares. Some even believe he was Gaspar, one of the Three Wise Men to visit the infant Jesus in the Bible. PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COIN SUPPLIED
