Constantine the Great’s posthumous follis featuring the quadriga is a commemorative bronze coin minted after his death in 337 AD. The obverse usually depicts Constantine as a deified figure, veiled or adorned with a celestial diadem, symbolising his status as “Divus” (deified). The reverse shows a quadriga, a four-horse chariot, carrying Constantine ascending toward the heavens, often guided by the hand of God or a celestial figure, underscoring his apotheosis. This imagery reflects Constantine’s importance to the Roman Empire and his role in establishing Christianity, emphasising the belief in his divine legacy and eternal authority over the empire. We have recently found a small group of these coins all coming in About Very Fine grade. PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COIN SUPPLIED
