The 1986 Proof Set is one of the most important Proof Sets of it’s time. Four of the coins in this Proof Set were not struck for circulation! Those coins are the 5p, 10p, 20p and 50p. That means if you need any of these four coins for your collection, then you have to break up a Mint or Proof Set. It also contains the first-ever non-Gold £2 coin. It was issued for the Commonwealth Games which were held in Edinburgh. Each 1986 Proof Set contains £2, £1, 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p, of which four coins were not struck for circulation. Offered here is the Deluxe Set which comes in a red leather case rather than the standard blue. The coins are the same, only the case changes. Over the years all Proof Sets will tone slightly, but we always give you the best set that we have in stock at the time of your order.
