1971 Proof Set Medal

The Britannia silver series is usually only available in Proof condition, except for the one-ounce silver. But in 2006 the Royal Mint issued the 1/10th Silver Britannia in Uncirculated condition. As far as we know, this is the only year that they issued this coin in Uncirculated condition. So it is a Very Important type coin. This is a special coin. First, because it was only issued for one year and secondly and most importantly because we can sell it for such a cheap price. Each coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and struck in Sterling Silver, they only ever issued this coin in Uncirculated for one year. So it is a Very Important type coin. In 1905 King Edward VII was on the throne, finally having taken over from his late mother, Queen Victoria. Arthur Balfour is Prime Minister and Chelsea has just been elected to the Football League. The GPO had just gotten rid of horse-drawn carriages to deliver the mail from London to Brighton and replaced them with Motor Lorries. The 1st public protest by a suffragette took place and Alf Common became the first £1000 football transfer. The Farthing was the smallest denomination regularly issued. Each year from 1970 until 1996 the Royal Mint struck a special rectangular medal for inclusion in the Proof Set. These medals are bronze and have sometimes been darkened to blend in with the Proof Set. They are dated and they issued one a year. Here we offer the 1972 medal.
