In 2008, the Zimbabwe economy was in freefall. Each week planeloads of banknotes, printed in Germany, arrived in Harare to feed the spiralling hyperinflation which was gripping the country. Instead of banknotes Zimbabwe had been issuing Bearer cheques with cut off dates for redemption. These 750,000 dollar notes valid until June 2008 were a little diff erent (P52). The German printers were also responsible for printing Zimbabwe banknotes before the troubles started. For the 750,000 dollars they took the stockpiled watermarked paper for the old 1000 dollar note issued in 2003 with its thick security thread and used that. So you have a 750,000 dollar note which when you hold it to the light shows 1000 in the watermark! Available in Crisp Uncirculated.
