To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. Struck, or more correctly moulded in green vulcanite by John Pinches for the India Rubber, Gutta Percha and Telegraph Works, pioneers in early forms of plastic, then being used in the earliest telephones and undersea cables. Besides commemorating the Jubilee the reverse depicts a cable laying ship. Mint State and unaffected by the atmosphere in a century and a half. A piece of Royal and industrial history.
