Victoria’s Crowns of 1844 were the first Crowns issued for circulation in 22 years. Crowns saw reduced demand due to the increased use of banknotes and sovereigns. Young Head Crowns were only struck in 1844, 1845, and 1847 and weren’t issued again for circulation until 1887.
