In 1887, Victoria changed the design on her silver coinage to feature the ‘Jubilee’ Head, but the design on the shilling proved to be unpopular as it was deemed too small. So in 1889, the design was changed to a ‘Large’ head of the Queen, this lasting until 1892. We have on offer a group of these shillings from 1890 in well-circulated VG grade, but all the main features are clear. A 136 year old Silver shilling, bearing Victoria’s short-lived ‘Large Head’.
