These are the last copper halfpennies ever struck and Victoria’s ‘Young head’ series is an ever-popular one with collectors. The obverse depicts her youthful portrait by Wyon with date below, the reverse has Britannia seated. They were struck between 1838 and 1860, in theory - in 1840, 1842, 1849 and 1850 they weren’t struck at all. 1839 was only made in Proof, 1845 is Very Rare and 1860 Extremely Rare. So, realistically 1848 is the only date unrepresented in our offering below. Make the most of the opportunity as it’s the first time we’ve offered these halfpennies by date and who knows when we will be able to offer them again.
