The first polymer note, issued by the Bank of England in 2016, featured a portrait of Winston Churchill on the back. This portrait was taken from a photograph by Karsh and sits alongside a view of Westminster and Big Ben from the South Bank of the Thames. The clock’s hands are at 3 o’clock, approximately the time Churchill made his famous, blood, toils and tears speech in the House of Commons on the 13th May 1940. This quotation appears below his portrait. (P414) Signed by Victoria Cleland, we offer these first polymer Churchill £5 notes in Uncirculated and with the AA Prefi x.
