Queen Anne (1665–1714) was the last monarch of the House of Stuart, ruling England, Scotland, and Ireland from 1702 until her death. In 1707, she oversaw the Acts of Union, uniting England and Scotland into Great Britain. Her reign saw the War of the Spanish Succession, which strengthened Britain’s power. Despite 17 pregnancies, she left no surviving heirs, leading to the Hanoverian succession. Anne struggled with poor health and relied on key advisors like Sarah Churchill. Though not a commanding ruler, her reign shaped Britain’s future. She is remembered for political change, cultural growth, and the rise of parliamentary power.
