The last sterling silver Sixpences
divider
Sixpences had been in circulation since their introduction by Edward VI in 1551. However, rising silver prices during the World War I contributed to the eventual debasement of British silver coinage in 1920. We have on offer the last sterling silver sixpences issued during and just after WWI. These coins were widely used for everyday transactions and are usually well-worn. Ever-popular for the Christmas pudding or for luck on Wedding day’s these sixpences are popular collector pieces and are offered in Very Fine condition, or better. These have seen less circulation than most and retain much of the original detail.
