The Sultanate of Jambi was a region of northern Sumatra in what is now Indonesia, and it became a disputed territory between the Dutch East India Company and the Kingdom of Siam. These 1 pitis coins, which are made of tin, date from 1855-1858 under the reign of Sultan Thaha Saifuddin, who resisted Dutch attempts to take over his territory until his death in 1904.
