South Sea Company Shillings from 1723
divider
The 1723 SSC shilling is a British coin minted during the reign of King George I. The “SSC” stands for the South Sea Company, a powerful trading company involved in the infamous South Sea Bubble fi nancial scandal. These shillings were struck to promote the company and are identifi able by the “SSC” inscription on the reverse. We have a group of these available in well-circulated VG condition, and a few in Fine. Historically significant, struck in silver and over 200 years old, this would be a great shilling for your collection.
