Shah Jahan Silver Rupee

Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram, better known by his regnal name Shah Jahan, ‘King of the World’, was the fifth Mughal emperor of India and reigned from 1628 to 1658. Under his reign the Mughal Empire reached the peak of its cultural glory. Shah Jahan commissioned many monuments, the best known of which is the Taj Mahal in Agra, built to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and where Shah Jahan was also laid to rest on his death in 1666. These are fantastic, affordable silver Rupees issued by Shah Jahan at the height of the Mughal Empire. Approximately 20mm in diameter, 3mm thick and weighing around 11.5 grams. Offered in Extremely Fine Condition.
