Set of Four National Transport Tokens with Vehicles

A set of 4 aluminium National Transport Tokens from the 1980’s, depicting the modes of transport they were used on. These were used instead of regular currency when paying for public transport and were often purchased in bulk by local authorities or welfare organisations to off er concessionary fare tokens to certain groups of people such as children or the elderly and could be used on most public transport services. Before the scheme closed, tokens were available in denominations of 2p, 3p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p and £1. Here we offer one set of four 20 pence tokens depicting a Tramcar from 1903, a Daimler CVD6 Bus from 1949, a Class 508 Train from 1980 and a Metrocar from 1981.
