The Portuguese escudo replaced the old real in 1911 after the fall of the monarchy and it remained in use until the country adopted the euro in 2002. We are offering this set of 2 nickel brass coins that circulated for 40 years between 1927 and 1968 and are in Very Fine condition. Both the 50 centavos and the 1 escudo have a Liberty head on the obverse, with the nation’s coat of arms and denomination on the reverse.
