Maximinus Daza, 310–313 AD, is often considered the last ruler to hold the traditional title of Pharaoh in Egypt. As the Roman emperor governing the eastern provinces, including Egypt, he maintained the pharaonic titulary on official inscriptions, a tradition continued by Roman emperors since Augustus. His rule ended in 313 AD after his defeat by Licinius during the civil wars of the Tetrarchy. Following his death, Egypt fully integrated into the Roman Empire without distinct local rulers. Maximinus Daza’s reign marked the final instance of a Roman emperor formally recognised as Pharaoh, ending a tradition spanning millennia. We have found a small group of his follis with genius reverse coming in Very Fine grade. Get the last Pharaoh while you can! PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COIN SUPPLIED
