Mauritania 1000 Ouguiya 1989 P-New Never Issued Unc

We have recently offered notes from Mauretania which were known about but never actually seen until a dealer friend recently visited the Central Bank in Mauretania. The notes had been printed and delivered but had not been needed. At the same time, he purchased uncirculated examples of the 1000 ouguiya note dated 1989. This note was not known about. Like the others, it had been ordered by the Central Bank but was not needed so never entered circulation nor was it identified by any catalogue. It is beautifully printed by the German printers Giesecke & Devrient. The front has a tapestry like design and the back features vignettes of a camel, a trawler and a port scene. Crisp Uncirculated.
