The last 10 shilling notes ever issued by the Bank of England were issued under J S Fforde. They quickly disappeared from circulation in 1971 when the Ten Shilling note was replaced with a 50 pence coin on decimalisation. The last Fforde 10/- notes had the prefixes A-N, B-N, C-N and D-N.
