India, Travancore, Silver 1 Chuckram
The Kingdom of Travancore (1729-1949) was located on the southern tip of India and covered much of modern Kerala and Tamil Nadu. These tiny silver 1 chuckram coins date back to the early 19th century when Gowri Lakshmi Bayi was the reigning Maharani and then Regent for her young son between 1810 and 1815. The obverse depicts the “Vishnupaadam” or feet of the Hindu deity Lord Vishnu, and it is thought the reverse shows lotus flowers associated with the goddess Lakshmi. These are high grade but small coins. PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COIN SUPPLIED
