These small silver obols were struck during the reign of Karoly I of Hungary. Born Charles of the French House of Anjou, he inherited the claim to the Hungarian throne from his mother after the ruling House of Arpad became extinct. The obverse shows the crowned head of Karoly, while the reverse shows his coat of arms which combines the Arpad stripes so common in Hungarian heraldry with the fleur-de-lis of France. No date appears on the coin but they were struck for circulation in 1338 and come in Fine-Very Fine condition. PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COIN SUPPLIED
