In 1984, the Royal Mint made its last ever Half Pence coin, but they were not struck for circulation. The last one was made in 1983 and then withdrawn from usage. The 1984 coins were only made for the mint and proof sets of that year. We have managed to obtain some of the rarer circulation coins in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The Mint said they never struck any, but here they are! Don’t ask how we got them, because we can’t tell you. But to make it even more exciting, we also have a special cover issued on the 31st of December 1984, the last day of the last halfpence.
