During the Second World War, the Channel Islands were occupied by German forces. There was a chronic shortage of small change so in Guernsey the Germans allowed the local authorities to issue notes of small denominations to ease the crisis. These Halfcrown or 2/6 notes are dated 25th March 1941. (P18) Like all the notes issued, they are small unsophisticated affairs with a simple design signed by the Treasurer of the States of Guernsey. They are regarded as scarce so we are delighted to be able to offer just a few of our collectors examples of this wartime Occupation Currency in Very Fine condition. They are blue on white with a prominent 2/6 in orange front centre. The arms of the Bailiwick feature in a panel on the back. Very Fine Occupation Halfcrown notes dated 1941.
