These leaded copper jital coins were struck during the time of the Ghurid Dynasty under the reign of Mu’izz ad-Din Muhammad ibn Sam, who reigned from 1173 until his death in 1206. They were made in Delhi and circulated throughout the empire, which includes large parts of what is now Iran and north western India. The obverse shows a standing bull with an Arabic inscription bearing the ruler’s name and the reverse has a horseman holding a standard.
