1998 Rank-Broadley 50p Brilliant Uncirculated. In 1997 the Royal Mint reduced the size of the 50 Pence piece. In 1998 they introduced a new bust of the Queen for our coinage, it was done by Ian Rank-Broadley. This coin is difficult to get and many collectors are missing it from their collections. We have managed to find a small group in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and now offer them to you. Each coin has the new portrait of the Queen on one side and a seated Britannia on the other. It is the first coin of the new series with the Rank- Broadley bust of the Queen. All of the coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and quite difficult to get.

In 1947 the Royal Mint removed all Silver from our coinage and it was now to be struck in cupro-nickel. The 1947 and the 1948 issues had the normal legend on the coins, but in 1947 India became independent and so that in 1949 changed that legend. The Florin of King George VI issued in cupronickel was struck in 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, and 1951. There were no coins struck for circulation in 1952 because that was the year that the King died. The next Florin to be issued was in 1953 for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. We offer the complete King George VI cupronickel Florin Collection for only £12.50. In 1949 the Royal Mint changed the legend on our coinage, IND IMP was omitted. This was due to India gaining its independence from this country and there was no longer a reason to have it on the legend. There were only two more pennies after this issue and both of these are Rare and very expensive, especially in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. If you want an important type coin, at a price that won’t break the bank, then this 1949 Penny without IND IMP is the coin for you. All of the coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and came from a bag that was found in a bank in the United States. They had been there since 1949!
