Gambia, 10 Dalasis 1975, Anniv. of Independence

In 1975 The Gambia struck this silver proof crown-sized 20 dalasi coin to mark 10 years since gaining independence from Britain. The obverse shows the image of Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, who served as The Gambia’s Prime Minister and later as the first President from 1970 when the country became a republic. On the reverse is the nation’s coat of arms.
