Gabon joined the monetary Union of the Central African States in 1994 when a unified currency was adopted with the addition of a country code on the banknotes to identify the country of issue. These 500 francs from Gabon are dated 1985 and are the last issue to feature the name of Gabon at the top of the note. (P8) A carved women figure and decorated bowl adorn the front with a woodcarver and masks illustrated on the back. Notes from Gabon have always been elusive. Crisp uncirculated.
