In June 1991 the Bank of England unveiled a new £20 note. It was to be part of the Historical Series, so named because of the historical figures which were a feature of the backs (B358). A mature portrait of Queen Elizabeth appears on the front while on the back we find portrait of physicist Michael Faraday and a vignette from a series of lectures Faraday gave to the Royal Institution. The first notes issued with this design were signed by G M Gill as Chief Cashier. It is now 35 years since this variety was first issued. We can offer Uncirculated examples.
