We are back with another numismatic definition: the Die Ghost. It is a faint, shadowy, mirror-image outline of a strong design element that appears on the opposite side of a coin. This effect is caused by die flexing and uneven metal flow during high-pressure striking—often with high-relief designs or thin planchets—and not by die-to-die contact.
