The Commercial Bank of Scotland was established in the early 19th century. In 1959 it merged with the National Bank to become the National Commercial Bank, the largest bank in Scotland at the time. The £1 notes we offer now are dated between 1932 and 1943 (PS331). The design has always been popular with collectors since it’s introduction in 1924. A portrait of John Pitcairn, the Bank’s first Chairman, is bottom centre with a detail from the Head office pediment, featuring allegorical women top centre. The back shows the Head Office Building framed. We are delighted to offer examples of this Commercial Bank £1 note in Fine condition.
