Coins of Philip III, half-brother of Alexander the Great

Philip III was born Arrhidaeus in 359 B.C., younger brother of Alexander the Great. Sources indicate he had a learning disability; this could be why Alexander did not kill him as was common for royal rivals at that time! After the sudden death of young Alexander in 323 B.C. his power-hungry generals, The Diadochi, compromised by having Arrhidaeus on the throne as Philip III. Sadly, in 317 B.C. Philip III was killed by Alexander the Great’s mother, Olympia, so he could not be used against her. We offer silver Drachm of Philip III Arrhidaeus in a Very Fine condition. These are scarcer than the coins of Alexander the Great as less were made. Good for someone named Philip, to complete the family if you have Philip II and Alexander or just because they are beautiful coins! I only have a few left at this old price, when they are sold out, that is it… PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHY IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COIN SUPPLIED
