Bun Pennies from the 1870s
divider
Following on from better Victorian Bun Head pennies from the 1860’s, in this issue we feature these Pennies by L.C. Wyon struck in the 1870-74 including the Heaton Mint. The design is referred to as the “Bun Head” penny and is one of the most popular series to collect in the whole English milled series. Made of bronze (95% copper), they were durable and widely circulated, still to be found in change 100 years later. We have been busy date-sorting and grading hundreds of these Bun Head Pennies, we have offered them recently in heavily circulated condition, but in this feature they are offered in better grade from 1870 to 1874 - still well circulated, but with more details. Make the most of this opportunity to add to, or kick start your collection of this fascinating and popular series.
